How I Got Here

I was just a child when I discovered my love of poetry. My grandmother introduced me to one of her favorite collections before I was out of junior high. I have always loved reading and discovered a natural ability to string pretty words together when I was in the eighth grade when my English teacher asked us to write a poem. Writing has always been a natural way for me to have a voice even when I felt like I needed to be silent.

I see the world in black and white and find inspiration everywhere I go. Nature nurtures me and humanity fans the flame. I am drawn to realistic, easy to understand stories and poetry and always try to keep my writing uncomplicated. I want to write poetry and novels that everyone can not only enjoy, but possibly even relate to.

My poetry touches on difficult to talk about subjects and is often not for the faint of heart. Life can get messy and complicated, and we can often get lost in the chaos. I write as a way to speak for those who do not have the words to speak for themselves and to show them that no matter what we are all in this together.
